This amazing Sugar Ray concert was in Hollywood at the Hollywood Palladium on March 19, 1999.  Talk about wild!  The concert was general admission and there was no seating.  Which meant you could get a whole lot closer, as is shown in the pictures above!  The mosh pit in front of the stage was huge, and it was almost impossible to squeeze through people because it was so squished.  And the heat.  Ugh.  I felt like I was in Death Valley.  But it was totally worth it.  After an exhausting push-and-shove up to the front of the mosh pit, I started to thoroughly enjoy myself!  Some of the big "Event Staff Pro" guys in the front, keeping people from coming past the barricade and onto the stage, would pull a person over and let them run right up to the stage every now and then.  All the girls were screaming to pick them, but the guys were just taking people from the very front.  I was about 4 or 5 rows back (if you can call them rows) and tried unsucsessfully to get up closer.  Then one of the security guys was looking for someone to take and I reached my hand as far as I could towards him and yelled, "OVER HERE!!!"  He reached over and grabbed my hand!  Because I was so far back, it took him like 3 minutes to pull me over.  People were hugging my legs trying to get pulled closer with me!  He finally pulled me out and kinda dragged me over the top of the crowd and set me down inside the barricade.  I ran up so close to Mark McGrath I could have given him a high-five.  But the excitement wasn't over yet!  After the concert my friend and I went outside to wait for our ride which wasn't coming for another 20 minutes.  The crowd from inside the Palladium was spreading out as people left, but some were hanging around like us.  We were walking around, and suddenly a guy caught my eye...it was a guy who had guest starred on my favorite show, Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, once!  He was practically the main character in that one episode so I recognized him right away.  I went over and asked if it was him and he said yeah.  He offered his hand and asked my name and told me his was Channon.  We talked for a little bit about the concert and stuff, him shaking my hand the whole time!  Afterwards, my friend said she didn't think that was him, but I could have sworn it was.  Later I saw the rerun of the episode he had been on, and sure enough, when it listed the guest stars, it said Channon Roe.  Click on the link to learn more about this actor!  Scroll down for more Sugar Ray pics!

These are a few of the pictures I took at Sugar Ray's July 17, 1999 concert in San Diego at the 32nd Street Naval Station Athletic Field, when they opened for the Goo Goo Dolls.  Sugar Ray put on an amazing performance!  Even the local paper raved about them the following day!  The concert was general admission, so of course there was a giant mosh pit.  The heat wasn't as bad as the concert in Hollywood though, because it was outside.  I was right up front as you can see from the pictures!  Camera's weren't allowed so I kept from getting too close and having my camera be seen.  Mark had a hair cut!  His hair was much shorter (but still spiked!) and had bleached spots, yes, actual circles, on the back of his head.  On the stage, of to the right hand side, there was a little island-style hut, with a guy making margaritas for the band!  Every now and then Mark would go over and get a drink!  The crowd was VERY into the music that night, jumping around like crazy.  After Sugar Ray finished, I was so exhausted...but then I realized my night was only half over!  I still had Goo Goo Dolls to watch!  Goo Goo Dolls Concert Photos and Review
