It may be kind of hard to recognize
this set, but it is actually where scenes from movies such as Dante's Peak
and The Truman Show were filmed. The blue backdrop is the largest
free-standing flat (is that the word for it?). The area right in
front of it is usually filled with water, but due to the filming of another
movie (the set of which is actually just to the right of where the picture
ends) that large contrapment in front of the blue screen had to be set
up.
When the "lake" actually was
filled with water, it was used in the acid lake scene of Dante's Peak and
also the ocean in The Truman Show. Looks a lot different from far
away and without the water, huh!
